India has formally informed the Taliban regime about Pakistan’s alleged involvement in the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, as part of efforts to build international pressure against cross-border terrorism. In response, Taliban’s acting foreign minister Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi condemned the attack and called for the perpetrators to be punished.
The meeting between Indian officials, led by MEA joint secretary Anand Prakash, and the Taliban highlighted strengthening India-Taliban ties, especially as Pakistan’s relations with the Taliban deteriorate due to tensions over the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
Prakash also reviewed ongoing India-Afghanistan bilateral projects and conveyed India’s interest in restarting development initiatives in the region. Both sides discussed trade, transit, and visa facilitation for Afghan citizens. Afghanistan welcomed Indian investment and assured security for Indian personnel working in the country.
